Length Vocabulary Trading Cards and Word Wall! Make studying length FUN in whole groups, partners, individually, or centers with meaningful, research based strategies! This is a set of 8 measurement/length vocabulary trading cards that make a great addition to a unit on measurement. I originally created them for my ELL students to look like trading cards and soon found that all of my students LOVE using them! Along with the individual cards for students I’ve included an enlarged set of the cards that can be posted in your classroom on a bulletin board or word wall.

This Length Vocabulary Set includes:
• 8 measurement/length trading cards with the word and a picture on the front. The backside states whether it’s metric or U.S. customary, its abbreviation, another unit to compare it to, and 3 different equivalencies.
• The same 8 measurement/length cards that are more interactive. They have the same words on the front but students need to draw their own picture to represent it. On the back they have to circle whether it’s metric or U.S. customary, write the correct abbreviation and circle the correct comparison.
• 8 cards that aren’t filled out with space to add more length terms to.
• A template for a labeled box that students can cut out, write their name on and color to store their measurement/length cards in.
• A list of ways you can use these measurement/length vocabulary cards with your students that is based on Robert Marzano’s “Six Steps to Better Vocabulary Instruction”. This list helps me because I can show parents, administrators, other teachers, etc. that I’m using research-based methods in my classroom.
• An enlarged set of the cards that can be posted in your classroom on a length bulletin board or word wall.

I print these measurement/length flashcards out double sided on card stock so they look and feel like real trading cards but they work just as well on regular paper.
